Description:
Ahmedabad is the hub of trade and commerce in Gujarat. The commercial importance of Ahmedabad makes the city an important travel destination in India. Besides being home to a number of important industries, Ahmedabad also has a number of majestic monuments, which remind us of the great historical and cultural past of the city. Located on the banks of river Sabarmati, Ahmedabad is the largest city in the whole state of Gujarat. From the year 1960 to 1970, it served as the capital city of Gujarat. However, later on, the capital was shifted to the Gandjhinagar city. It was founded in the year 1411 by Sultan Ahmed Shah. It is owing to this reason that, sometimes, it is also referred to as the city of Ahmed Shah.

Hotels:
Lemon Tree Hotel, Ahmedabad Located in Ahmedabad’s downtown shopping and commercial area of CG Road in Navrangpura, this attractive and airy hotel is walking distance from Hazira LNG, Adani House, Vadilal Industries, Suzlon Energy, HDFC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Reliance Capital, Bank of Baroda and more. Hotel Royal Highness is located centrally in the heart of business and shopping areas at Lal Darwaja. This hotel charges a premium mid range hotel tariff, with around 50 rooms and 8 conference rooms. The stay at this hotel is not satisfactory in my opinion. Worn out carpets, poor quality furnishings, run down bathroom fittings activated my hygiene-radar. The buffet breakfast was also quite sad.
People Life Style:
The traditional dress of Gujarati men is the kurta (called zabbho) and pajama (called lehanghas). Ahmedabad, being the hub of commercial activities, is highly influenced by the western culture, which is also reflected in the dressing style of people. In the contemporary times, the ethnic wear for Ahmedabadi people does not consist of the traditional Gujarati clothing. Rather, they prefer to dress up in the style that resembles the national culture
Night Life:
"The discotheques are located on the outskirts of this 'dry' city. Come here to shake a leg to the latest Bollywood numbers amid hi-tech disco lights, albeit without alcohol. But the youngsters in Ahmedabad are not complaining - even if the entry fee is redeemable on paneer tikka and pakoda (Know more about Eating in Ahmedabad) , the 'discs' run packed. So don't be a spoilsport, pick up a glass of khas sherbet and join the swaying multitudes! Bootlegging is common and if you have the right connections, procuring all kinds of exotic liquors is easy. If you don't, however, you can spend many frustrated evenings chasing illusive promises of booze and ending up with local, hardcore products. Stay away."
Wine Dine:
"Dhokla : a steamed cake made of gram paste. Doodha Pak : a milk confection. Sev, Ganthia : which are a type of spicy snack food. Kadhi : a curry made of yoghurt. Undhyo : a winter delicacy cooked in earthen pots. Shrikhand : a yoghurt dessert flavoured with saffron, nuts and fruits. Suter Pheni : which is a fine vermicelli cooked in sweet round. "
